RETURNS

I absolutely adore my bairn pro. The style is perfect for my work environment. The canvas is lovely and sturdy, and the size is ideal. I can carry everything I need for a variety of projects, including my coffee, without lugging around an enormous pack. The bairn pro might be the perfect mid sized messenger.

A couple of concerns stopped me from buying the original Bairn. I like to have quick access to some things (like keys, wallet, notebook and pencil) and there was no way to get at your stuff without unbuckling and lifting the flap. I also felt the volume was low given that your water bottle will need to go inside the bag. Bairn Pro solves these problems with the front zipped pockets, bottle holders and slightly larger overall size. I wasn’t sure if it’d feel too big, as I wanted something compact not a large messenger bag, but it’s actually just right for my commuting days. First observations: - The materials and construction look and feel first class, it’s noticeably not a mass-produced bag. - The fabric is robust, giving the bag a stout and solid feel. It’s not floppy and will keep its shape. - The Cobra buckles are pleasingly over-engineered and addictive to click open and closed. - Haven’t had foul weather experience yet, but the design of the flap looks like it should keep rain out of the inside of the bag, which can be a weakness with satchels. - The laptop sleeve hangs well clear of the bottom of the bag and is padded, your machine is well protected. - If I want to work on the train, or anywhere where there isn't a table, the bag can comfortably lie flat on my lap and provides a platform for my 13" Macbook to sit on at a good working height. - The interior zipped pocket doesn’t have much volume to it and will only really work for quite flat things, also it's not big enough for a full sized iPad - good for a Kindle or possibly iPad mini. The main front pocket is large and should fit most tablets. - It’s probably heavier than a Cordura / plastic fittings equivalent would be, but doesn't really feel that way. - I initially thought the small clip on the key leash in the right front zipper pocket was plastic, which wouldn’t have fit well with the all fabric and metal construction. It’s actually black-coated aluminium, a decent little item. It'd be easy enough to get it off and replace with your own carabiner if preferred. - I got the port version as I'm a bit bored with always carrying a black bag. The web site pictures do a fair job of representing how the colour actually looks, so if you like those you would probably be satisfied with it. - Brown paper packaging, no throwaway plastic. Good! Overall I’m very pleased with this bag, my first from Trakke. Would buy again, if I don’t die before it wears out.

I bought this, after a couple of smaller purchases from Trakke, as I was impressed with the quality of those items. I was not disappointed! This messenger bag is thoughtfully designed, well made and the the materials used are the very best available. First time I used it, at a work meeting, it was much admired - this in a very blokey setting. That's never happed before, ever!! Add great service and a lifetime guarantee - what more do you need? So good that I have already purchased a backpack from Trakke and love that too.
